The ABC’s of Effective Classrooms: PBIS, Equity and the Common Core
Student achievement depends on positive, orderly classrooms paired with effective teaching. This talk will describe Positive Behavior Support as a framework for understanding, using and supporting evidence-based classroom practices to create effective, equitable classrooms.
Chris Borgmeier, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of special education at Portland State University and Vice President of the Board for the NorthWest PBIS Network, a not-for-profit that promotes the implementation of PBIS throughout the Pacific NorthWest. Previous to his work at PSU, he worked for Ravenswood City School District in East Palo Alto, an inner-city school district where he led a district-wide effort to implement School-wide Positive Behavior Support. Dr. Borgmeier has provided training and consultation throughout the United States and Canada to schools and school districts across the three tiers of SW-PBIS.
